Write a short story tonight. Find out what your readers felt.
Tellyah is a writing app for short stories. You write on your phone, bubble by bubble, and your readers answer with an emo instead of a comment.
On this pageWrite short. That is the whole point.
No novel. No manuscript. No outline to stick to. This is a writing app built for short fiction: a scene, an idea you noted at 2am, a memory you never told anyone. You do not need to be an author. You do not need to have been published.
Short story writing, built for a phone screen.
The editor hands you one bubble at a time, so you never face an empty page. A story written here is called a telly, and it is built bubble by bubble: start tonight, stop mid-sentence, come back tomorrow, your draft waits where you left it.
Add a choice, or do not.
At any point you can split your story in two and let the reader decide. Different scenes, different endings, all written by you. That is what turns a short story into interactive fiction, without any of the work of building a game. Or keep it straight through. Both belong here.
See who reacted, and where.
Readers do not hit like here. They leave an emo on the bubble that got them, and you see which bubble, and which ending they reached. The emos they can pick from depend on the category you filed your telly under: a romance and a crime story do not offer the same ones. And there is no comment field anywhere on Tellyah, so there is nothing to brace for when you publish.
Nobody rates you. Nobody ranks you.
No leaderboard. No follower count. No like counter to refresh at midnight. Nothing here turns your writing into a score.
Stuck for an idea?
Read a few of the stories published here before you start: it is free, and it helps you work out what you want to write. If you would rather begin with a ready-made idea, there are twenty-one of them, sorted by category.
Your story starts here.
Your readers tell you what they felt. Not a counter, an emotion.
